For Kids
Since 1910, there have been several attempts to
establish Father's Day as a national holiday. Finally,
in 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed the 3rd Sunday
in June as Father's Day. That made it official. Father's
Day is not just a day to honor fathers. It's a day to thank any male
caregiver in your life. It's a chance for you to say
thank you to your grandfather, your uncle, your stepfather, and your Dad
for all they do for you.
I don't know about your Dad, but mine brushes off all
our attempts to thank him. He simply won't let us tell him how
wonderful we think he is.
Thanks to this holiday, we get a chance to make
him listen to us at least once a year!
